Don’t miss Huguenot Yacht Club’s signature race-cruise event! Sign up for Expressly for Fun at http://yachtscoring.com/emenu.cfm?eID=2876.
The Huguenot Yacht Club invites you to join us for the annual Expressly for Fun Regatta on Saturday and Sunday July 09-10. This year we will be returning to the Northport Yacht Club. Don’t miss out on the chance to race (or cruise) to Northport for a great party/awards presentation/Dinner/Junior Sailing Benefit Auction on Saturday. And then you get to stay overnight on your boat before you race (or cruise) back to HYC for more awards and a BBQ on Sunday.
This annual regatta uses a Pursuit Start format to make the starting less nerve-wracking and encourage participation by new or less experienced racers and families. With a Pursuit Start the slowest boat starts first and the faster boats start later based on how much time they owe the slowest boat over the 10-mile course. This way there is only one boat on the starting line at a time, unless there is another boat with the exact same rating.
The online Race Entry is available at http://yachtscoring.com/event_registration_email.cfm. HYC members can either use the convenient PayPal payment option at yachtscoring, or can be billed on their club accounts. Just don’t forget to make your dinner reservations! Emailracing@huguenotyc.com for reservations at Northport Yacht Club and Dining@huguenotyc.com forthe barbecue at HYC.
For the power boaters, we will also be repeating the popular Poker Run with this event – please join our racing sailors and families for a weekend of fun! The entry form for the Poker Run is attached, and additional information will be forwarded to entrants separately.
For all participants, mooring reservations are available at Northport on a first-come basis, with additional room for anchorage and launch service. All requests for moorings should be directed to Justin Scagnelli at Jscagnelli707@gmail.com.
We will also hold our annual auction to support the HYC Junior Sailing Scholarship Fund. There will be an assortment of items donated by club members as well as local businesses. If anyone has any appropriate items they’d be willing to donate for the auction, please let me know!
