Junior Sailing

The Huguenot Yacht Club was a founding member of the JSA of Long Island Sound in 1926 and is proud of its tradition of instilling a love for proficiency in small boat handling to the next generation. Our program caters to a wide range of abilities from beginner (having never sailed) to experienced recreational sailors. We also have a group of avid racers who like to go to regattas for some friendly competition. Classes are held Monday thru Friday from 9-4 daily with lunch included.
While the typical day will include sailing, racing, and instruction on the water, we always have time for some good old-fashioned summertime fun. The sailors swim in the Club pool each day. Both sessions also will have a “Big Boat” day where juniors will hop aboard a larger sailboat for a day of fun in the sun, and a small regatta at HYC where they can compete for prizes.
Enrollment is limited to 40 boys and girls between the ages of 8 and 16 years old. The program is open to children of members and to non-members’ as availability permits. FOR A FULL LIST OF PRICES AND 2012 HYC_JS Application see registration and rates or select the page from the drop down menu above.
Registration & Open House on Sunday, January 29, from 4-6 pm, the Huguenot Yacht Clubhouse will be open for alumni and Club members to drop off their applications.
To introduce our program and HYC to interested new sailors and their parents, we are holding two Open Houses, on Sunday, February 12 (3-5pm) and again on Sunday, March 11 (3–5pm), at the Huguenot Yacht Club to introduce our program to new sailors and their parents. We welcome all to come and meet the Junior Sailing Committee, see our Club, ask any questions that you may have and hear from others about their junior sailing experience. Applications are available on this site, at the Open Houses. You can drop off an application or mail it to the Club.
We look forward to meeting you and your kids.
Catherine Rogers and Nigel Rabiola, Committee Co-chairs.
