Mayors’ Cup Race

Mayors’ Cup Race

Saturday, Aug. 11th

Starts off Can 1 NE of Execution Rocks. The Mayors’ Cup offers something new. It’s outlandish, fun and challenging. Instead of setting a course and dictating the order and which side to pass the marks, the Mayors’ Cup designates three marks and lets competitors start in either direction, round the three marks in any order & in either direction … then finish from either direction – it’s a Fiasco! It’s Fun! and it it’s a Challenge! While it may look a little like anarchy, with boats starting in different directions and rounding marks in random order, this race lets you use your boat’s sailing characteristics to it’s advantage. The Mayors’ Cup will be a navigator’s delight. Will the order of legs affect distance? Which leg is best during the early wind and current, and which is best during the later wind and current? Come out and test your ability to figure it out best for your boat. To make it even easier to enjoy, we use a pursuit start race to reduce starting line congestion. Join the fun and see what it’s like when race organizers break the mold. There will be classes for non-spinnaker and spinnaker boats. You can get more information and register at:
