HYC is a founding member of US Sailing and the Yacht Racing Association of Long Island Sound. We continue this legacy by hosting several regattas throughout the season.
We’re proud to continue our racing tradition with this year’s events, outlined here. Visit the links for each race as they become available for registration information, race details and contact info.

July 8th (Sat): Commodore’s Cup
We will be hosting the annual 2023 Commodore's Cup Regatta. There will be a party after the race. Sign up for the Commodore’s Cup here.
July 22nd (Sat): Pursuit of Happiness Regatta
July 29 (Sat): Lillian Gish Race & Pool Party
The notoriously competitive and fun evening with our lady skippers. Racing consists of spinnaker and non-spinnaker divisions. Don’t forget the costume contest too! Race begins at 2pm followed by a pool party and later a lighted boat parade. Sign up for the Lillian Gish Regatta here. (Regatta postponed due to weather)
August 19 (Sat): Governor’s Cup
Hosted this year by City Island Yacht Club, the Governor’s Cup is a distance race around government buoys that gives you a nice tour of the Western Long Island Sound. Sign for the Governor’s Cup here.
August 20th (Sat): Mayors’ Cup
This race is quite the fiasco! A pursuit style start with three rounding marks. Competitors start in any direction they choose, round the marks in any order or direction and finish in any direction they choose. Put your navigation, tide mapping and forecasting to the test! November 4 (Sat): 41st Annual Turkey Day Reach
In partnership with New York Athletic Club; hosted this year by HYC. If you dread haul-out as much as we do, the Turkey Day Reach is the perfect excuse to put it off just a little longer. Sign up on Turkey Day Reach Yachtscoring.
